MPD: Suspect arrested in Facebook Marketplace item exchange armed robbery

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) arrested a suspect in a January armed robbery that occurred during a Facebook Marketplace item exchange in Northwest D.C.

Brian Kelly, 29, was arrested Wednesday by the U.S. Marshall’s Service and charged with armed robbery.

Police say on January 27, at 4:30 p.m.,  the victim and Kelly met in the 1000 block of I Street, NW, where the victim believed Kelly was buying an item from them organized through Facebook Marketplace.

According to police, after the victim pulled out the item, Kelly proceeded to take it while brandishing a firearm before running away…
