WASHINGTON (7News) — A Maryland man who went on a robbery spree targeting several banks in D.C. and Maryland in May 2022, will spend just over five years in federal prison, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for D.C. on Thursday.
A judge on Wednesday ordered Jonathan Brown-Murphy, 44, to 63 months for his role in a bank robbery spree between May 23-25, 2022. He targeted six different banks using threatening notes at several of them, officials said. Only some were successful.
Brown-Murphy was caught on May 25 after a failed attempt at a Wells Fargo in District Heights, Md., where officials said he passed a note that said “GIVE ME THE MONEY!!! DON’T GET KILLED!!!” He fled after a fellow bank employee pressed an alarm, but not before a bystander alerted Prince George’s County police…
