WASHINGTON — Community members voiced their concerns about proposed changes to healthcare programs in the city, including Medicaid and the D.C. Healthcare Alliance.
During a public hearing with the Committee on Health, D.C. residents, including Farighamina Tumpe, stressed the importance of Medicaid. Under Mayor Muriel Bowser’s budget proposal, more than 25,000 adults with no children and adult caregivers who earn more than 138% of the federal poverty level could lose Medicaid coverage.
“This impact would be detrimental,” Tumpe said. “Right now, even I have to choose whether I buy medications or put food on the table, and I work.”…
