WASHINGTON — Upper Northwest neighborhoods are under a precautionary boil water advisory on Thursday, according to DC Water.
The advisory comes after a DC water pump station experienced a loss of power Thursday afternoon. The power outage caused pump failures and a subsequent loss of system pressure, which had since been restored. However, the loss of pressure may have caused backpressure, back-siphonage or a net movement of water from outside the pipe to the inside through cracks, breaks, or joints in the distribution system.
