Double Homicide Rocks Kingman Park in Northeast D.C.; MPD Offers $50,000 Reward for Information

Tragedy struck the Kingman Park neighborhood in Northeast D.C. as Metropolitan Police Department officers discovered two men fatally wounded by gunshots yesterday. The officers, part of the Fifth District, were on patrol near the 1800 block of D Street when they encountered the crime scene following the sounds of gunfire at around 12:03 a.m. Despite the immediate response and the efforts of DC Fire and EMS, both men were unable to be revived and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The victims have been identified as Quonzay Lynch, 30, from Northeast, and Cortney Burley, 41, from Southeast D.C., according to an official release by the MPD. Authorities have not yet released further details on the circumstances leading up to the shooting, nor have any suspects been announced. The police department, however, is actively seeking information and is offering a considerable reward for any tips that lead to an arrest and conviction in the case.

The current investigation emphasizes the Metropolitan Police Department’s policy of offering rewards for information in homicide cases.
