WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — D.C. firefighters said a restaurant’s kitchen was destroyed early Thursday morning after a fire broke out in Columbia Heights.
In a post on X around 2:15 a.m., the DC Fire and EMS Department said crews were dispatched to a box alarm in the 3900 block of 14th Street, Northwest. Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke showing from the roof of a restaurant and flames in the kitchen.

The fire was quickly extinguished; however, crews stayed at the restaurant for about an hour to work on hotspots.
The fire department noted that the blaze did not spread to neighboring restaurants and no one was hurt.
Following an investigation, officials determined the fire was accidental and mechanical in nature.
