DC firefighters rescue person trapped in Northeast apartment fire

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — One person was rescued by firefighters from a Northeast apartment fire Saturday, according to the DC Fire and EMS Department.

In a post on the X platform around noon, firefighters say crews responded to reports of an apartment fire in the 3500 block of Ames St. NE.

There, smoke could be seen billowing from a two-story apartment building with a person hanging from a second-floor window.

Firefighters rescued the resident with a ladder and extinguished the flames in the first-floor hallway…
