Tragedy struck the Eckington neighborhood of Northeast when a fatal shooting claimed the life of a young woman and left a man injured last Saturday night. Officers from the Fifth District were called to the 100 block of T Street, Northeast, around 11:03 p.m., after receiving reports of gunshots, as reported by the Metropolitan Police Department.
Upon arrival, they discovered 23-year-old Zarie Williams, from Northwest, DC, who had sustained gunshot wounds; sadly, despite efforts to save her life, she was pronounced dead at the scene, the Metropolitan Police confirmed. Subsequently, an adult male victim arrived at a local hospital on his own, he was conscious and breathing, suffering from a gunshot wound which detectives have linked to the same incident on T Street. The victim is currently receiving treatment and is expected to recover from what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The Metropolitan Police Department has appealed to the public for assistance, urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward, calling (202) 727-9099 or submitting tips via text to the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411; they are offering up to $25,000 as a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for this homicide…
