Man found dead at Alexandria bus stop, no foul play suspected

A man was found dead at a Duke Street bus stop early Saturday morning (July 19), prompting a temporary closure of westbound lanes as police investigated the incident.

Alexandria Police reported that an adult male was discovered unresponsive at the bus stop at Duke Street and Sweeley Street around 6:15 a.m. The discovery was made by an off-duty Alexandria firefighter who was driving to work when he noticed the man slumped over at the transit stop.

“When he stopped to check on him, he realized he was deceased,” Alexandria Police stated in a social media update. “Appears he had been deceased for several hours and there is no sign of foul play or evidence of drug paraphernalia.”…
