ONSE holds day of support for DC gun violence victims: ‘The answer rests in the community’

WASHINGTON, D.C. (7News) — 7News was present on Saturday as parents whose children have been shot sat alongside government officials, commissioners and violence interventionists responsible for tackling gun violence, as the Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement (ONSE) hosted its second annual Healing Communities Symposium.

It focused on the moments after the crime scene tape comes down, services end, and the outpouring of love and support stops. 7News asked violence intervention, government agencies, and organizations what they’re doing to prevent the shootings that lead to those moments.
