WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A man was charged under the Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful initiative on Tuesday, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) of D.C.
The USAO said that 39-year-old David Oday Smith is facing a federal charge of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon.

Authorities detailed that on July 14, 2025, officers with the Metropolitan Police Department were patrolling the 5700 block of Georgia Ave. NW when they saw Smith “hiding behind a bus stop with a black satchel.”
