WASHINGTON, D.C. (7News) — Low-income D.C. residents caught by speed cameras have a chance to reduce their fines as part of a new pilot program.
Under the program, upwards of 3,000 eligible drivers who are SNAP recipients can enter a lottery, where half of them will have their ticket fine cut in half.
The fine reduction is only for camera tickets less than 15 miles over the speed limit, not for parking or officer-issued tickets. It’s not for egregious tickets or running red lights…
