Da’Quan Tucker, a 23-year-old inmate from Washington, D.C., has been sentenced to 57 months in prison following a violent assault on a former cellmate. According to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, Tucker attacked his former cellmate with a 6‑inch contraband knife at the Federal Correctional Institution Otisville on April 3, 2024.
This unprovoked stabbing, which took place in the prison yard, resulted in Tucker also being sentenced to three years of supervised release following his imprisonment. The assailant had been initially incarcerated for a robbery committed while on supervised release in July 2023. As part of his guilty plea earlier this year, Tucker admitted to both assault with a dangerous weapon, and possessing contraband in prison.
“Da’Quan Tucker brutally attacked a fellow inmate in the prison yard at FCI Otisville without provocation by repeatedly stabbing him in the head and face with a contraband knife,” U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton said in the indictment.
