A D.C. resident is fighting dozens of traffic tickets after someone stole her license plate – and she says she was told she needs to contest the tickets one by one until police find the thief.
The resident has received about 80 tickets for $16,000 and counting after someone swiped her license plate, she told News4. Her Acura was parked on Seaton Place NE near 2nd Street when she saw on June 17 that the license plate was gone. She said she knew right away that the theft could become a problem.
“I immediately filed a police report and thought, ‘I need to get to the DMV immediately because I don’t want something to happen with these stolen tags and me be on the hook for it,’” Katrina said, asking News4 not to show her face. She held a stack of tickets as she spoke…
