WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Several Northeast families in the Deanwood neighborhood are seeking a simple solution; gas restoration to their homes after they say went offline two months ago.
“I can’t cook my greens. I mean, I’ve tried to fry sliced chicken breasts, chicken livers, sliced pork chops,” said Aletha Bush of Just Street, who admitted to spending roughly $200 for electric alternatives.
With no way to cook on her stove, the decades-long Ward 7 resident continues to cook with hot plates and a small air fryer, saying, “and I’ve lost 10 pounds. You know, because I’m used to cooking. And, I can’t have my granddaughter over and my daughter because we usually have Sunday dinner.”
Bush, along with neighbor Angela Norris, told DC News Now they are frustrated over bills for gas-related service, even after the gas stopped working inside their homes.
“It don’t make sense,” Norris said, adding, “We’re still getting charged for something that we don’t have.”…
