DC man charged for having gun despite prior felonies

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A D.C. man is facing a federal firearms charge under the “Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful” initiative, officials said Tuesday.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) for the District of Columbia said that 35-year-old Sherwood Russell is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon.

Three arrested for attempted carjacking in Montgomery County

Court documents state that in May of 2025, officers with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded to the 2000 block of 11th St. NW for a reported domestic disturbance.

The USAO said that responding officers saw Russell “grabbing a woman by the arms and yelling at her.”…
