Metropolitan Police Seek Public Assistance to Identify Suspects in Southwest D.C. Independence Day Shooting

Metropolitan Police are on the lookout for individuals connected to a Southwest shooting, seeking help from the public. The incident in question unfolded in the early hours of Independence Day, with patrol officers from the First District responding to a shooting near P Street and Carrollsburg Place, Southwest, according to a press release by the MPD.

Fleeing the scene before law enforcement arrived, the suspects opened fire on an intersection-crossing vehicle. Initially, no victims were found at the site of the crime. Detectives, when notified later, learned that a man with gunshot wounds sought medical attention at a nearby hospital; the survivor’s injuries were luckily non-life-threatening. Found afterward was the victim’s vehicle, revealing scars of the shooting affair, per the MPD official report.

With surveillance cameras capturing the suspects, authorities have circulated photos in hopes that the community might play a part in this puzzle to identify those responsible.
