Metropolitan Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Suspects in Northeast DC Armed Carjacking

Authorities are on the lookout for two individuals involved in an armed carjacking incident in the Northeast quadrant of the city. The Metropolitan Police Department has turned to the public for assistance in these matters, following the event that took place on Sunday, July 27. Exactly at about 12:57 p.m., at the intersection of Minnesota Avenue and Benning Road, the suspects confronted a person, brandishing a knife and forcefully taking keys to a moped before fleeing the scene.

The Metropolitan Police Department released surveillance footage with the hopes to aid in their capture. In releasing these images they have made a public plea – urging anyone with information to come forward while deliberately asking not to approach these individuals, given the violent nature of the crime. It has been reported by MPD that the first suspect grabbed the victim while brandishing a knife and the second suspect took off with the victim’s moped, the first suspect in pursuit.

In response to the attack, MPD has announced that a reward of up to $10,000 is being offered. This incentive is for anyone able to provide information leading to the arrest and conviction of the assailants. The department’s dedicated tip line at (202) 727-9099 and TEXT TIP LINE at 50411 are the channels provided for the public to relay their knowledge of the incident…
