WASHINGTON, D.C. — A deadly crash early Saturday morning brought traffic on D.C. Route 295 to a standstill for more than 10 hours as police investigated the scene.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the collision occurred before 2:15 a.m. on the northbound lanes of DC-295, between the 11th Street Bridge and Pennsylvania Avenue Southeast.
Responding officers found one person unconscious and not breathing at the scene. The victim was later pronounced dead. At this time, authorities have not released the individual’s name, age, or gender.
Hit-and-Run Suspected
Police said the occupants of the striking vehicle fled the scene on foot, leaving behind the crash site and the victim. The nature of the crash and the number of vehicles involved have not yet been disclosed…
