WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — As a large group of teens gathered in the Navy Yard area Saturday night, officers took a boy into custody for allegedly firing a stolen gun.
It all happened as officers were monitoring the large group in the area of the 100 block of M St., SE at around 9:30 p.m. While observing the gathering, officers saw a juvenile boy discharge a gun in the direction of other teens, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Fortunately, no one was struck by the gunfire. Officers arrested the boy and recovered a firearm, which had been reported stolen in another jurisdiction, police noted. At this time, the exact age of the boy and the other involved juveniles remains unclear.
The incident comes amid the city’s efforts to address ongoing safety concerns in the area, with police implementing curfews to address large gatherings.
