Federal task force operation ends in Northeast DC shooting

WASHINGTON (7News) — A federal task force operation in Northeast Washington led to a shooting early Thursday morning.

According to a statement, the Metro Transit Police Department (MTPD) was involved in the operation just after midnight near 48th and Sheriff Road NE.

“Last night, MTPD participated in a federal task force operation. Just after midnight, during an attempted stop off Metro property, a suspect produced a firearm. An MTPD officer discharged their weapon in response, but the suspect was not struck,” an MTPD spokesperson said…
