USAO: DC man went live on Instagram holding gun minutes before arrest

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A D.C. man was sentenced Thursday to nine years in federal prison for a string of armed carjackings and robberies in March of 2023.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) for the District of Columbia said that 23-year-old Andre Rushing — also known as “Dre” — pleaded guilty on March 17 to carjacking and brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.

Rushing will have to serve five years of supervised release after his prison sentence.

“As part of his guilty plea, Rushing admitted to perpetrating four separate carjackings and robberies. The spree only stopped when Rushing and his co-defendants were arrested in Fairfax County on March 30, 2023, as they attempted to flee police in a carjacked vehicle,” the USAO said in a statement…
