DC Police says scooter removals are part of crackdown operation that began in 2024

WASHINGTON (7News) — In response to a viewer’s photo of what appeared to be police impounding several scooters, a Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) spokesperson told 7News that this was part of an operation that began in June of 2024.

That operation, dubbed “Operation Ride Right,” was a response to the community’s complaints of unsafe scooter use that began in June 2024, MPD officials said.
