Andre Rushing, a 23-year-old resident of the District of Columbia, has been sentenced to a 108-month term in federal prison following a string of violent carjackings and armed robberies that terrorized the metropolitan area in March 2023. The sentencing was announced by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.
Rushing, known also as “Dre,” entered a guilty plea on March 17, admitting to carrying out four separate incidents of carjacking and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. It was on March 30, 2023, that his crime spree was brought to a halt after Rushing and his co-defendants were apprehended in Fairfax County, attempting to quickly flee the police in a stolen vehicle. In addition to his prison sentence, U.S. District Court Judge Rudolph Contreras has mandated that Rushing serve 5 years of supervised release once he completes his time behind bars.
