Police Charge Man In Early Saturday Morning Shots-Fired Incident

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Saturday, a 64-year-old Southwest, D.C., man was taken into custody and jailed after being formally charged in connection with an alleged shooting incident that occurred during the early morning hours in Southwest, D.C.

According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Saturday, August 23, 2025, shortly around 2:30 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded to multiple 911 Emergency Calls reporting gunfire inside a hallway of an apartment building located on the 4600 Block of Martin Luther King, Jr Avenue in Southwest, D.C.

Upon Arrival, Police Officers Learn Suspect Shot At Teenagers

Upon arrival, Police Officers learned that two teenagers were playing around in the apartment building’s common hallway when they knocked on an apartment unit door and ran away. The resident of the unit, identified as Darryl Woods, 64, of Southwest, D.C., exited his apartment, stepped into the hallway, and fired a handgun in the direction of the teenagers…
