WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is investigating a potential hate crime after authorities said a woman called someone a homophobic slur while assaulting him this week.
MPD responded to the Shay Apartments in Northwest D.C. at about 2:50 p.m. on Aug. 27. There, officers said 27-year-old Ashley Frederick of Southeast D.C. smacked a man’s phone out of his hand and called him a slur.
