Possibly stolen car strikes cruiser, injures officer in Silver Spring: MCPD

SILVER SPRING, Md. (7News) — A driver in a possibly stolen vehicle reportedly struck a Montgomery County, Maryland, police cruiser and injured an officer before driving away from the attempted traffic stop late Thursday evening, police said.

Officials said Third District officers attempted to stop the vehicle in the 9500 block of Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, at around 8:16 p.m. after noticing a stolen license plate on the “possibly stolen vehicle.”

The driver of the vehicle at some point rammed into a police cruiser, which ultimately struck an officer’s leg, officials said. The driver then went southbound into D.C…
