DC police: Suspect cuts Safeway employee with hatchet during fight at store; employee hospitalized

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — One person was taken into custody Friday night after they allegedly cut a Safeway employee with a hatchet during a fight at the store in D.C.

The Metropolitan Police Department said officers responded to a reported stabbing at the Safeway in the 6500 block of Piney Branch Road just minutes before 10 p.m.

There, officers found a man suffering from a cut, and medics took him to the hospital for treatment.
