DC residents hold Freedom Run against federal surge on Labor Day

WASHINGTON — Around a thousand people spent their Labor Day running and walking through the streets of D.C., in protest of the federal surge in the District. Demonstrators said they wanted to put their day off from work to good use.

“I set my alarm extra early on this holiday weekend. Just so I get out here and make my voice heard,” said D.C. resident Christie Harlan.
