MPD Investigates Fatal Shooting in Northeast DC’s Brentwood as $25,000 Reward Offered for Information

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into a deadly shooting incident that unfolded in the Brentwood neighborhood of Northeast DC. The shooting claimed the life of one individual, identified as 36-year-old Francois Adkins of Northwest, Washington, D.C.

According to an official statement released by the MPD and posted on their website, it was on Monday, September 1, at around 4:16 p.m., when officers from the Fifth District were dispatched swiftly to respond to reports of gunfire on the 2300 block of 14th Street, Northeast. Officers discovered Adkins in an unconscious state, yet breathing, with evident gunshot wounds. The DC Fire and EMS were alerted and promptly transported him to a local hospital, where he tragically did not survive, despite exhaustive efforts to save his life.
