WASHINGTON (7News) — For several months starting in late 2024, a Chipotle restaurant location inside Washington’s Union Station accidentally paid just over $443,000 in rent and utilities to the station’s previous landlord, according to a federal court filing in early September.
When Amtrak gained control over Union Station in mid-2024 after a court battle, the previous landlords, New York-based Investco and Rexmark, alongside Amtrak, sent letters to businesses on the property informing them of the change.
But until as recently as February 2025, lawyers for the Southwest and Tex-Mex food chain said in a legal filing that they were unaware that the money meant to go directly to Amtrak from September 2024 to early 2025 had instead gone to the previous owners…
