WASHINGTON (7News) — A former assistant principal at a D.C. middle school must pay $259,294 as part of a judgement secured by Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb, for taking a full-time job in Rhode Island while he was supposed to be working remotely for D.C. Public Schools (DCPS).
A court found that Michael Redmond, who worked at Stephen E. Kramer Middle School in Ward 8, “engaged in conduct that showed a willful disregard for the truth and a willingness to engage in defrauding the District of Columbia,” the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) said.
In March 2020, DCPS schools closed and staff moved to virtual instruction. When staff returned to partial, in-person work — Redmond requested a COVID-19 accommodation and continued working remotely, saying he had an “immune deficiency,” and that his partner was immunocompromised…
