LOOK: Alligator found in DC waters near the Wharf

WASHINGTON (7News) — A local man found an alligator swimming in the waters near boats in The Wharf Marina in D.C.

The alligator’s finder, 23-year-old Phoenix Norwood, called police to report the gator after he mistakenly thought it was fake, according to 7News news partner WTOP.

Norwood said he held the gator for around 10 minutes until officials arrived.

Animal Control took the alligator to a D.C. animal shelter, where it stayed overnight in an indoor pond, according to Brandywine Valley Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BVSPCA)…
