Suspect Charged in Northwest D.C. Robbery and Assault on Connecticut Avenue

The Metropolitan Police Department recently reported the apprehension of a suspect involved in a violent robbery in the Northwest part of the city. The arrest was made after a woman was assaulted and her phone was stolen.

Last Tuesday, September 23, an altercation took place around 5:50 a.m. A 39-year-old Northwest D.C. local, Gregory Woods Jr., is accused of attacking the victim from behind as she walked along the 4200 block of Connecticut Avenue. According to the Metropolitan Police Department’s report, the suspect allegedly began strangling the woman before taking her phone and making an escape.

Woods was detained by detectives yesterday, a week following the incident. Upon his arrest, he was charged with Assault with Intent to Kill, Felony Strangulation, and Robbery.
