Over 30 residents displaced after fire at apartment building in DC: DCFD

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — More than 30 residents were displaced after a fire broke out at an apartment building in D.C. on Tuesday, according to officials. A woman was hospitalized with serious injuries, and a firefighter was also hurt.

Just minutes after 5 p.m. on Sept. 30, the DC Fire and EMS Department (DCFD) responded to a box alarm at the Gardens Apartments on Galveston Street SW. When crews arrived, smoke was showing from the first floor of a three-story apartment building, and the fire was reported in the basement.
