Woman Found Shot Dead in Northeast DC Home, Police Seek Tips and Offer $25K Reward

Metropolitan Police officers are currently conducting an investigation into a fatal shooting that took the life of a woman in Northeast, the department confirmed. The incident unfolded within a residence located at the 4000 block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast. Following a welfare check requested on Sunday evening, police discovered the victim already deceased from a gunshot wound.

The call for a welfare check was received just before 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, and the responding officers from the Sixth District arrived to find Maurisha Singletary, a 33-year-old resident of Northeast DC, struck by an act of fatal violence. Emergency personnel from DC Fire and EMS were quickly on the scene, only to confirm there were no signs of life in Singletary, as per the Metropolitan Police’s official release.

With the investigation ongoing, MPD is urging anyone with information related to the homicide to step forward and contact them. Calls can be made to the police at (202) 727-9099.
