WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — People shopping for Halloween candy and costumes likely will notice that the cost of celebrating the holiday may be the really spooky part of it this year. That’s because the cost of both jumped, compared to 2024 pricing.
“There might be some sticker shock on certain costumes,” said Total Party owner Lorenzo Caltagirone, who explained what’s driving the increases.
“Ninety-five percent of our product is from China,” said Caltagirone. “Some of them are charging us the full 30% and or the 20%, and we have to pay those tariffs upfront. And unfortunately, we have to pass some of those costs to the consumer.”
