MPD arrests suspect in two armed robberies tied to online marketplace meetings
Washington, DC – An 18‑year‑old man was arrested Friday after investigators linked him to two armed robberies that targeted people meeting to buy and sell items arranged online, police said.
The Metropolitan Police Department says the first incident occurred on October 3 at approximately 4:16 p.m. in the 3900 block of C Street Southeast, when a buyer and the suspect met for a prearranged transaction; the suspect produced a handgun, demanded the victim’s property and fled with the items, police reported (CCN 25151663). The second incident took place on October 4 at about 5:30 p.m. in the 100 block of 40th Street Northeast, where the suspect again displayed a handgun, took property after a brief struggle, and left the scene (CCN 25151665).
On Friday police arrested Ryan Williams, 18, of Southeast, DC, and charged him with two counts of Armed Robbery (Gun). Officials did not disclose whether the stolen property was recovered or provide details on the investigation’s next steps…
