WASHINGTON — A collective which manages three D.C. apartment complexes will have to pay $700,000 after they were found liable in a discrimination lawsuit by the DC Office of The Attorney General, an assistant deputy A.G. confirmed on Thursday.
Petra Management Group, LLC was among four LLCs, collectively known as Petra that were named in the settlement. According to the Office of The Attorney General, Petra had been discriminating against lower income DC residents to boost profits.
Rent-controlled apartments were allegedly given out only to voucher holders, which allowed Petra to illegally rent out units without abiding by federal and DC subsidies.
