Several financial agencies that serve federal workers are offering assistance amid the government shutdown as those people feel the strain of lost paychecks.
“This is the first round of paychecks that zero dollars is attached to it,” James Kirwan, a furloughed federal employee speaking in his personal capacity as a concerned citizen, said. “The paychecks that went out a week or two ago, it was about half pay, maybe 70 to 80 percent for a lot of folks.”
