DC mayor and police chief call on stricter youth curfew following violent weekend

WASHINGTON — Following a violent weekend in the District that left 12 people injured in seven shootings, Mayor Muriel Bowser and DC Police Chief Pamela Smith are calling for a stricter youth curfew.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) says that between Friday night into early Saturday morning, 12 people were shot across the city.

“Over the last couple of weekends, there’s been an uptick in our juvenile activity, a little different than we have been seeing throughout the summer,” DC Police Chief Pamela Smith told reporters Monday morning…
