Shooting in Southeast DC leads to hours-long barricade, suspect in custody

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Police in the District said a suspect is in custody after a shooting in Southeast led to an hours-long barricade Monday morning.

Details remain limited; however, the Metropolitan Police Department told DC News Now that the shooting broke out in the 4900 block of Ayers Place around 7:47 a.m. on Oct. 27.

Once on the scene, officers found a man who had been shot. Police added that he was conscious and breathing and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
