Washington, D.C. among riskiest U.S. cities for drivers, Allstate finds

WASHINGTON — Driving in the nation’s capital may come with more stress than you think. According to Allstate’s 2025 America’s Best Drivers Report, Washington, D.C. ranks among the riskiest cities in the U.S., placing high on the list of areas most likely to experience a collision.

Allstate analyzed auto insurance claims from the 200 most-populated U.S. cities to compile the report, revisiting collision data first published a decade ago.

The 10 Safest Cities to Drive in 2025

Allstate’s report identifies the top cities with drivers least likely to get into collisions:

  • Brownsville, TX
  • Boise, ID
  • Fort Collins, CO
  • Cary, NC
  • Laredo, TX
  • Olathe, KS
  • Scottsdale, AZ
  • Port St. Lucie, FL
  • Madison, WI
  • Eugene, OR

Texas stands out for safe driving, with several cities, including Brownsville, Laredo, McAllen, and Corpus Christi, making the top 20. Overall, 21 Texas cities, including major metros like Austin, Houston, Dallas, and Fort Worth, have improved their collision rankings over the past decade.
