Clyde’s of Chevy Chase (5441 Wisconsin Ave) will temporarily close for renovations beginning Saturday, November 1, and is scheduled to reopen on Wednesday, November 5 as the restaurant undergoes a major multi-million-dollar upgrade.
The renovation plan includes replacing the roof and all heating and air-conditioning systems, refreshing the dining rooms, and converting the Race Bar into a more event- and live-music-friendly space. Additional work will continue through the fall, with the restaurant planning to limit further closures as the project progresses.
In a message to guests, President and CEO John McDonnell shared that Clyde’s is investing several million dollars into the project to restore the restaurant to the standard patrons expect. McDonnell acknowledged the improvements were overdue, noting that uncertainty surrounding the restaurant’s lease had delayed major upgrades.
