On October 31, 2025, Mayor Muriel Bowser will join District leaders and community members for a groundbreaking ceremony at Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School in Washington, DC’s Ward 8. The event marks the start of a $65 million modernization project.
The project will expand the school from 48,000 to about 70,000 square feet. It will include both renovations and new construction to improve facilities for students and staff.
