Fuddruckers Cancels Plans for Maryland Return

In August 2024, we shared that Fuddruckers planned to return to Maryland and Washington DC, with new locations slated to open in the fall. While the DC restaurant opened in March, Washington Business Journal reports that the previously planned Silver Spring location will no longer be moving forward.

According to the report, Fuddruckers will no longer return to its former Downtown Silver Spring location after landlord Peterson Cos. reclaimed the space and sued the restaurant’s owner for failing to meet permitting and opening obligations. Peterson has begun seeking a replacement tenant, while Fuddruckers’ parent company has denied the allegations and asked that the case be dismissed.

The Downtown Silver Spring site at 819 Ellsworth Drive, which has remained vacant since Fuddruckers closed there in December 2019, had been expected to reopen as part of the brand’s comeback.
