ARLINGTON, Va. (7News) — Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. are offering a variety of resources to aid furloughed federal employees as the longest shutdown in U.S. history continues.
D.C.
The District is offering unemployment compensation for federal employees who have lost their jobs. To apply, you must accurately report the reason for unemployment and register with the District of Columbia Department of Employment Services.
D.C. is also offering public service professionals job opportunities for people within the D.C. Government. Visit the Public Service Career Hub for more.
Maryland
Gov. Wes Moore announced that federal employees who are working during the shutdown but not receiving a paycheck can receive two loans of $700 each. These loans must be repaid within 45 days of the shutdown’s end.
Employees who are furloughed, or not ordered to work during the shutdown, may be eligible for unemployment insurance.
Virginia
