DC police arrest teen accused of 2 robberies

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) arrested a 12-year-old on Sunday, who is accused of two robberies that took place in October.

MPD said that both robberies took place on Oct. 5.

The first one happened around 7:45 p.m. The victim was riding a bike in the 200 block of M St. NW when a group of minors approached them. MPD said that one of them threw a bike into the victim’s path, then two minors tried to take the victim’s bike. They failed and instead stole some of the victim’s groceries that they had just bought before escaping.

The second robbery took place just after 8:05 p.m. MPD said that the victim was riding a scooter along the Metropolitan Branch trail near the 1300 block of 2nd Street NE. The victim rode past a group of minors, and one of them grabbed the victim’s backpack, forcing them to stop…
