Man dies in DC metro police custody after arrest at Anacostia Station

WASHINGTON (7News) — A man arrested on an outstanding assault warrant at Anacostia Metro Station died after becoming unresponsive while in police custody, authorities said.

The Metro Transit Police Department (MTPD) shared on social media just before 7 p.m. that officers had taken a man into custody earlier Sunday at the Southeast D.C. station.

While detained, the man became unresponsive, prompting officers to call for medics. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead…
