WASHINGTON (7News) — As holiday shopping ramps up across the country, small businesses in the D.C. region say this year’s Small Business Saturday may be more important than ever.
Liz Pancotti, Managing Director of Policy & Advocacy at Groundwork Collaborative, told 7News that small retailers across the DMV are still feeling the ripple effects of federal layoffs, economic uncertainty, and shifting shopping behavior.
“In the wake of federal government layoffs and other really awful economic impacts around the DMV area this year, it is so important to support those small businesses in our local communities,” Pancotti said. “So many small businesses have really taken a hit over the past six to 12 months, and this Saturday is more important than ever.”
